For the 2025–2026 school year, the Fox Point–Bayside Education Foundation is supporting district initiatives designed to inspire innovative thinking, nurture student growth, and strengthen learning. A key focus of this year’s campaign is the creation and expansion of outdoor learning spaces at both district schools—places where students and teachers can gather, explore, and learn off screens and outdoors, together.

What Are Outdoor Learning Spaces?

These outdoor learning spaces aren’t playgrounds—they’re extensions of the classroom. They are places where science, reading, art, and collaboration unfold under open skies.

Research shows that when schools invest in outdoor learning:

• Communities see a return of more than $3 for every $1 invested through improved health, stronger neighborhoods, and long-term academic success.*

• 88% of teachers report that children are happier after learning or playing outdoors.*

• Students who participate in outdoor education show up to a 48% increase in classroom engagement after outdoor lessons.*

When we give children opportunities to engage, interact, and explore in fresh air, they don’t just absorb learning better—they develop confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong sense of wonder.

Beyond Outdoor Classrooms: Supporting Innovative Learning

While outdoor learning spaces are a major focus for this campaign, your support also helps fund other district priorities that enrich learning and strengthen our community, including deepening partnerships such as the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's ACE program, expanding STEAM opportunities, supporting empowerment programs and grade-specific retreats, and meeting additional district needs that promote innovation, growth, and student success
