Level the playing field with us! (Ended June 2021)
During the 2020-2021 school year we raised money to "level the playing field" and build better playgrounds for children of all abilities during and after school.
Did you know that before the new playgrounds at our schools there was no public place for children of all abilities to play safely in our community? The new playground initiative successfully changed that by establishing the first ADA-accessible playgrounds in Fox Point and Bayside.
Featured here are photos of students utilizing the old facilities. The photos clearly show that it was about time we gave our students more and better opportunities to play, create and socialize in fun and meaningful ways. The comparison to what we have been able to build is incredible. Take a look at the new photos and videos of the new facilities here and here.
There is compelling data about the benefits of active play and free-range socialization for children of all abilities. Especially now that the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of the outdoors!
Having stimulating outdoor spaces promotes social intelligence, allows students to recharge between academic sessions, and encourages movement throughout the day for greater physical health.
