The Fox Point Bayside Educational Foundation proudly presented District Superintendent Dr. Jeff Dellutri and Stormonth Principal Karen Grimm-Nilsen with a check for $60,000 to help fund the renovation of the library at Stormonth Elementary.
Beginning at the start of the 2018-2019 school year, K-4 through 4th-grade students were introduced to a new kind of school library called The S.T.O.R.M. (Stormonth: Technologists, Originators, Readers and Makers).
The introduction to the new concept was just the beginning. While it continues to be a space for accessing books, reading, studying and learning, The S.T.O.R.M will expand to include a maker space and an advanced media center. It will be larger and more robust in its offerings and potential.
This level of support was made possible because of the generosity of the families and neighbors in the Fox Point Bayside School District.
Funding S.T.O.R.M is part of a multi-year campaign to support establishing and expanding dedicated Makerspaces at Stormonth Elementary and Bayside Middle School.
The Educational Foundation achieved this with only two initiatives: Our Annual Gift Giving campaign and with the annual Rolling On The River event.
The check was presented in June. That same day demolition on the old library commenced and transformations began.
